Saturday 24 September | 9.00-9.50 | Opening ceremony | | | Mr. Xinghua Chen, County Head of Chun'an County, had a speech on the open ceremony, which had introduced the background of the conference, the delegates of the conference, and also a welcome speech to all the delegates. He introduced that the conference has attracted 17 lake representatives from different countries; 45 representatives from domestic lakes; 18 representatives from international and domestic famous tourism research institutes and landscape design institutes; and also 15 representatives from international and domestic business organizations. Altogether there are more than 300 delegates in the conference.
After, Mr. Gerald Kenyon, CEO of 2006 World Leisure EXPO, representing World Leisure Organization, also had a welcome speech in the open ceremony.

There were 46 yachts, coming from 16 yacht companies of 9 different countries: U.S, Germany , France , Canada , UK , Australia , New Zealand , Japan and China. There were not only ordinary and luxury yachts, but also yachts with solar energy-engines and yachts that can be used on both land and water.

Water is an essential aesthetic and recreational element that attracts millions of people worldwide especially during their leisure time. Coastal and marine tourism play an important role in the global tourism business but there are also a number of well-known lake tourism destinations. Interestingly, however, compared with coastal or mountain tourism, for example, lakes are still a relatively unknown entity as far as academic tourism research is concerned.
